2 What Data We Collect
If you provide us with personal data, you acknowledge and agree that such personal data may be transferred to our offices and servers, or our affiliates and/or contractors located in the European Union and other countries.
2.1 Compulsory Data
In order to use our app you have to provide some personal data. This personal data is necessary to operate the app, for instance to create a user account. Compulsory data are, for example:
2.2 Optional Data
If you want to gain deeper insights into, for example, you’re training progress and compare it to other people of your age group, we need your age to calculate such statistics. The more information you give us about yourself the better we can inform you about your performance in comparison to your peers. Such data is called optional data in this policy. We will use optional data to provide you with requested information and anonymize your personal data and use it to improve statistics, for your personal benefit and that of other users.
Under your personal user profile you can access and manage your optional data. These are, for example:

2.3 Sensor Data
A core competence of Humotion is to process sensor data recorded by, for example, your smartphone and provide you with advanced analytics of your training and movement. Accordingly, our app can only be used if you give it permission to access sensor data. Sensor data are, for example, recorded by the following sensors:
- Proximity sensor
- Heart Rate (if a heart rate sensor is used additionally)
Data recorded by this sensors will only be accessed when you use the app actively.
2.4 Log Data
In order to improve your user experience and identify bugs quickly we will automatically receive and record from your smartphone information about your usage of the app. For instance, when you access the app or request statistical information, anonymized data of this process is stored in a log file. Data which will be stored in a log file may include, for example:
- IP address
- Data and time of activities
- Software and hardware, such as device type, software version, operating system and browser
We are not interested in your personal usage of the app and only log anonymous data to identify bugs or usability problems.
In order to optimize your user experience we use tokens which store information about your usage. Tokens are used for identification and authentication, when you try to log into to your account, thus you do not have to enter your e-mail and password before every session.
3 How We Use Your Data
We use personal data you provided to us for the following purposes:
3.1 For Operational Capability Of The App
Some of your data will be needed to provide you with the core functionality of the app. For example, if you want to use the app to track your training activities or any form of physical movement, we will collect this data, analyze and store it. Thus you can always monitor your training. Such data may include for instance compulsory data, optional data and sensor data, as described in paragraphs 2.1 to 2.3.
3.2 Statistical Information
If you request statistical information to compare your own achievements to that of your peers, we use optional and sensor data, as described in paragraph 2.2 and 2.3, you provided. Your data will be anonymized, stored and used for further statistical research. It will not be possible to identify you personally. In return you will receive the statistics you have requested.
3.3 Anonymized Data
We use anonymized data, for example, log files, about your usage or anonymized training data to:
- Create an engaging user experience.
- Identify and solve technical problems.
- Conduct statistical research about, for example, training techniques or human movement patterns.
- Improve our understanding how you and other users engage with our app.
3.4 Sensitive Health Data
Our app records physical sensor data, for instance, acceleration but not sensitive health information, about your past, present or potential future health condition or treatment. Sensitive data, for example, your heart frequency will only be recorded with your specific permission and via third party tools. Such sensitive data will never be shared for marketing purposes or with similar service providers. However, we may use sensitive health data to provide you with information about certain non-sensitive sport and health topics, such as physical training diagnostics, endurance training or running types.
We will use contact details you provided, for example, your e-mail address, to communicate with you. These communications may include welcome e-mails informing you about various features of our app. Furthermore, we will send you e-mails about the proper functioning of your account.
4 Who We Share Your Data With
4.1 Within One Company Group
We will share and use your data within our company for the purposes as described in paragraph 3.
4.2 With Current Or Prospective Business Partners
We may share anonymized data with, for example, our service or (prospective) business partners or for other marketing purposes.
4.3 With Third Party Services
Humotion collaborates with third party services, such as HockeyApp by Microsoft, which help to operate our app and offer an improved user experience. We may disclose information collected and processed about you to those third party services. For instance, we do share your location data with google maps.
4.4 Legal Purposes
We may disclose your personal data if required by law or in good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
- Comply with a government request, court order or applicable law.
- Investigate fraud, security, or technical issues.
- Protect Humotion’s or a third party’s rights or property, our employees, users and the public.
5 Who We Do Not Share Your Data With
5.1 Social Media And Advertising
We currently do not use social media plugins or any sort of advertisement in our app. However, we may introduce such features later. Therefore, at the moment we DO NOT share your data with:
- Health- or fitness-service providers
- Data resellers
- Other software or app developers
- Social networks
- Ad networks

You have the right and ability to access and edit compulsory and optional data you have provided. You may log into your account at any time and update your information. An FAQ list is available in the app with instructions how to adjust your privacy settings, or delete personal data you have provided.
9 When We Will Delete Your Data
9.1 Periods Of Non-Usage
We will retain your data even if you do not use your account actively.
9.2 Delete Personal Data
Your personal data will be deleted as soon as you delete your account.
9.3 Aggregated Anonymized Data
For our statistical research we use anonymized user data. It is not possible to delete your anonymized user data as it is not connected to your user account. Accordingly, it is not possible for us to draw a connection between data, which you have provided and has been anonymized and your personal account information.
10. Children’s Privacy
10.1 Age Restriction
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 16 and do not target our app to children under the age of 16. If you are under 16, please do not use the app. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s internet usage and to help enforce this prohibition. We may revise or replace this policy from time to time. You have to agree to a new or changed policy before it can take effect.
